Unique Hosting Opportunities – Winter 2025
One of the most exciting features of our Colombia program is the opportunity to host a child in your home—a rare and meaningful experience. Hosting offers a unique way to connect with a child prior to adoption, and many families choose to adopt the child they hosted.
We’re currently recruiting families for our Winter 2025 Hosting Program. Here are the details:
- Duration: 3 weeks (In December through Christmas)
- Children: Typically ages 11 and older; includes both individual children and sibling groups (sometimes with a younger sibling)
- Eligibility: All hosted children are legally eligible for adoption
Nightlight partners with Kidsave, a trusted hosting organization that brings waiting children from Colombia who have not yet found permanent families. To host, families must complete:
- A mini home study
- Background checks
- 10 hours of training
- Coordination with a Hague-accredited agency
If you live in one of our 10 licensed states (CA, CO, FL, GA, IN, KY, MO, OK, SC, TX), Nightlight can provide your home study. Families outside these states can still participate by working with one of our partner agencies.

Who Can Adopt?
Nightlight welcomes a wide variety of family types. To be eligible for Colombia adoption, you must meet the following criteria:
- Married couples (2+ years of marriage)
- Single men and women
- At least one adoptive parent must be 25 years or older
- The age gap between parent and child should not exceed 45 years (flexibility offered for older children and those with special needs)
How Long Does It Take?
The adoption process typically takes 18–24 months, depending on the profile of the child you are open to adopting. We’ll be with you every step of the way, providing guidance, advocacy, and encouragement.
