Completing Your Required Embryo Adoption Home Study

Every adoption requires the completion of an adoption home study.

At Snowflakes, we follow the best practices of adoption and therefore require an adoption home study or family evaluation be completed by the adopting family. We believe the placing family, adopter and adopted children will benefit and are protected by the home study process.

An adoption home study consists of an evaluation and educational components, along with personal meetings with a home study provider and various background checks. This process usually takes about two to four months to complete. Adoptive families receive the education necessary for success in raising adopted children and communicating their child’s unique snowflake baby adoption journey in an appropriate and loving manner.

The home study gives the placing family confidence that the adoptive family has been appropriately vetted and will provide a safe and loving environment. Snowflakes provides a home study service that is available in all 50 states and internationally. Talk to us if you have a valid and current home study and we will determine if you can apply it towards your embryo adoption.

Most adopters will complete a Snowflakes Family Evaluation (SFE)

  • Available in all 50 states and internationally
  • Completed by a Nightlight provider who is knowledgeable about embryo adoption
  • At least one home visit is required
  • Post-birth report costs are included in the SFE fee

What if I already have a valid home study?

  • Your home study provider will need to provide Nightlight with a signed copy of your report
  • You will complete required embryo adoption education
  • Post-birth report costs may not be included in your home study fee. Check with your provider to see what the additional cost will be
