Dear Birth Parents:
It is with great respect that we write these words to you. What you are considering for your baby is a courageous thing; we are honored that you are taking the time to hear our story.
Our names are Mark and Jena. We have been married 18 years. We are best friends. We met in high school and have been friends ever since. From the beginning of our marriage, we have wanted to adopt. You see, Jena is adopted. She was adopted when she was three months old. So, adoption has always been part of our lives, and we knew that someday we would open our home to a baby; we just didn’t think it would take 18 years.
Why has it taken so long?? Well, life has happened. We have four sweet children. We have three dogs, two goats, one beehive, and a flock of chickens. We are involved in our community: in our church, the kid’s school, in Boy Scouts, and in the music and the arts. We love to go hiking and running. We have a big garden. So, life is busy. But, the one consistent desire through these years has been adoption. We know our family is not yet complete. And, so we wait, knowing that God has a bigger, greater purpose than what we can see.
We have several friends who have adopted from different races and cultures that are ready to help. We have grandparents who are eagerly anticipating another grandchild to love. We have four children who are beside themselves with excitement at thought of having another sibling. We have room in our hearts for more children. Your baby will be welcomed into a large family and community, ready and waiting to love him/her.
So, how do you close a letter like this? We can’t tell you that we will be perfect parents, because we won’t be. But, what we can promise is to love this child forever, without condition. We will tell this child about God’s great love for them. We will laugh with them, cry with them, and never give up on them.
We can’t begin to imagine how difficult this must be for you. We do understand the responsibility you feel. We would be honored to help you.

Home: We live in a brick cottage on about 5 acres. We live in the country, but are only a 10 minute drive from a medium- sized city. Our home sits at the top of a hill surrounded by woods and has a lovely view of the mountains.
Pets: We have two dogs ( a cocker spaniel and a golden retriever), two Nigerian dwarf goats, and 13 hens.
Finances: We are debt free. Jena is blessed to be a stay at home mom.
Why are you interested in building a family though adoption: Our hearts have always been pulled toward adoption because Jena is adopted. We feel that our family is not yet complete, and believe that this is the directon that God is leading us.
Openness to Birth parents: We are open to contact with birthparents/open adoption.
Childcare Plans: Jena will stay home with baby.
Statement of Faith: We adhere to the Apostle's Creed. We believe that the Bible is true. We believe that God is love, and He is working out a plan in this world. We believe that forgiveness can be found through Jesus Christ. Bottom line: Love God and love people.
