First, let me apologize for taking so long to send a new update. November was a hectic month. I wanted to let everyone know that the gazebo (started by the mission team) has been completed, as well as, more progress made on the playground. (Please see pictures below.) We still need to add swings but will have to take those over with the next team. Kenneth and Cathy are doing well. Cathy is in the last few weeks of her pregnancy and is hoping the baby will come before Christmas. Ken and Cathy have sent a heart felt thank you to all the mission team members and everyone who donated to the trip below. They have also sent some updated photos of the children.
Out of the 4 children in the baby's home, I'm happy to report that 3 have been matched with families adopting through our program. The first family to be matched has also had their case filed with the courts. We are now waiting for a court date. There is currently a backlog with the court system, so please pray that the families will get court dates soon. We are told it could be February or March for the first family.
In addition, Ken and Cathy have met with a mother who would like to place her child in the Tender Hearts Baby's Home, as well as, place the child for adoption. She has met with Ken and Cathy more than once but is fearful that if she places her child with them, the police with arrest her. Please pray that this mother will have peace about her decision and that Ken and Cathy will be there to support her however possible.
Unfortunately, Ken and Cathy's car has broken down. They have been told that the engine is no good and can not be repaired. Cars in Uganda are very expensive and necessary based on the kind of work that Ken and Cathy are doing. Please pray that their financial need for a vehicle will be met.
If you would like to donate to the Uganda baby's home or to help Ken and Cathy with a vehicle, please donate below. Be sure to indicate which cause you are donating to. Thanks so much to everyone for all your support and prayers.
God Bless,
Lisa Prather, LMSW
I just want to say thank you for believing in our dream and actually standing with us. Ken and I appreciate everything you do for us and the ministry. Thank you for the team you brought with you, and I hope you conveyed our heart felt appreciation for their hard work during their visit.
They worked so hard and tirelessly to make our babies home lovely and we will remember each of them with fond memories. Thank you for all the luggage you brought, everyday when I get to the home, I am humbled to know that there are friends out there that care about the babies as much as we do. It's amazing.
Lots of love,
Cathy
