2010 Uganda Mission Trip Summary

It is difficult to find words to express the experience of Nightlight’s first Uganda Mission Trip.  We took a team of 22 people and each person had a story about how God lead them to be on the trip and confirmed his direction many times.  There were many stories regarding fundraising miracles, details working out, and even team members being healed of illnesses.  While we were in Uganda, our hearts were touched in so many ways, and there were many tears shed.  We had loads of donations, such as, medical supplies, diapers, clothes, toys, teddy bears, blankets, and so much more.  Kenneth and Cathy, directors of Tender Heart’s Baby’s Home, said that they were overwhelmed that 22 strangers would take time out of their lives to bless them.  Kenneth said at times he just stopped and looked around at all of us working.  He said it was very humbling to see that the dream God had given him was coming true and that so many people were helping. Every team member worked hard to complete the projects at the baby’s home. We were able to complete the building of the gazebo, paint several walls, and also build playground equipment at the baby’s home.  Our team also did a vacation bible school at Mama Mary’s (a local woman who has taken over 30 children into her home).  The team members were all overwhelmed when seeing Mama Mary’s children praise the Lord with true abandon.  We were welcomed with open arms by all the people we met in Uganda, and were able to partner with other organizations, such as, Manna Ministries.  We ministered to the Nairungu tribe by bringing food into the slum community and witnessing to them about Jesus.  While we were ministering, two ladies gave their life to Christ.  It was truly a blessing for everyone to be a part of this mission team, and we can’t wait to see what God will do on our next trip in 2011.  Please enjoy the photos attached which give only a small glimpse into the trip.  We have so many great photos, it is difficult to choose.  We continue to need donations for the baby’s home.  Please feel free to donate by clicking here.
