We have been married for ten years now, but back before we were even married, we both had adoption on our hearts and resolved then that we would someday adopt. After all, we as believers have been adopted into God's family through Christ.
Fast-forward to 2022, and after the Lord generously blessed us with three amazing children, we were ready to adopt our next child. We had heard about Snowflakes Embryo Adoption many years ago and thought it was a cool idea, but we had never considered it for us. We were most likely going to pursue adopting through foster care, until the idea of carrying another baby piqued Suzanne's interest.
As we began praying about the decision and discussing the pros and cons of the different adoption routes, we decided that adopting an embryo was the way to go. What captured our hearts about embryo adoption is the growing number of frozen embryos in storage and the fact that so few people seem to be aware of the potential for adoption. We would not only have the chance to offer someone the chance to live and grow, but we also prayed that we would shine a light on embryo adoption and hopefully encourage others to look into it.
After completing the paperwork and home study, we were matched with a wonderful family and immediately accepted their three embryos. A few months later we flew to Knoxville, Tennessee to do the transfer at Rejoice Fertility (we happen to have family in Knoxville, and we loved the idea of working with Christian, pro-life doctors).
Praise God, the first embryo successfully thawed and implanted, and we now have our sweet baby boy, Isaac Peter. He smiles and waves at everyone, and loves to grab your face and give you kisses. Our communication with his bio-family is often and sweet as we post updates about what milestones he's hitting and how much he is growing, and they post updates about what various activities they are up to.
It is hard to believe he could still be frozen as an embryo, or he could have not survived the thaw or the transfer. But we are immensely grateful that God blessed our family with our sweet Isaac.
