Zach and I met at church and were friends for many years before we began dating in 2020. We fell in love quickly and were married in 2021. We had decided at that time to wait a year before trying to start a family.
We knew our journey to parenthood would look different than most, as I had went through chemotherapy as a teenager and had been told I could not have children biologically.
I had first heard of embryo adoption from a friend who told me about the Snowflakes Program. I immediately loved the idea as I had always desires to carry a child but figured that would not be an option for me.
After prayer and consideration, Zach and I joined the snowflakes program in July of 2023. We were so excited to have this opportunity to grow our family through embryo adoption. We matched quickly with an amazing family and adopted six embryos.
After our first two transfers ended in miscarriage, we were beginning to lose hope that this process might work for us. When we pulled into the clinic for our third transfer in February of 2025, it started to snow. We took that as a sweet reminder from the Lord that he was with us.
On Valentine’s Day, we took our first beta test and found out we were pregnant. This was also the 1-year anniversary of our embryos arriving to our clinic. Another sweet reminder from the Lord that he was with us.
On September 27, we welcomed our baby, Riley Ann. She truly has been the biggest blessing to us and we could not imagine life without her. We knew we would have no problem loving a child that was not biologically ours, but we were amazed at how quickly we bonded with her. We are so glad we did not lose hope in the long and hard fertility journey and kept going. We are forever grateful for the snowflakes embryo adoption program and to our placing family for choosing to bless us with their embryos.
