My name is Makenna and I'm 12 years old.
My story started before I was born. My parents were not able to have kids. But then they discovered Snowflakes and knew that this was for them. She tried multiple times to find a match to have kids. But after a long wait she was pregnant with me! I was her first of two kids. My brother Alex is now 9 years old. He is my genetic sibling.
When I was little I just knew that I was adopted. I didn't understand any more than this simple label. When I was 8 or 9 I started asking questions about my adoption, and I started to realize how crazy amazing my story was. I have always treasured my uniqueness and I am really thankful for the family I have.
Lately I have started to dig a little deeper as to what this really means. I learned that Snowflakes is a way for people who cannot control their abilities to have children to have a chance to enjoy seeing a kid of their own grow up. I believe that this is one of the most amazing things God has created for people, and I am very grateful for the life I am living today.
