My name is Callie, and I was adopted when I was still an embryo. I absolutely love my family. I wouldn’t have my life any other way. I was frozen in a cryo-tank so that I didn’t grow for about 7 years, until my parents found the Snowflakes embryo adoption website. It was recommended to them by a friend, and they decided to try it. They adopted me and 3 other embryos, from two separate families. My parents referred to me as the “Lone Ranger,” since I was the only one from the first family. The day I was transferred to my mom, my parents heard the Lone Ranger theme song in the doctor’s office. My mom says that she instantly knew I was the one that survived the thawing process.
I was named by my brother, because the family that placed me for adoption was from California. Hence, Callie. Today I am 12 years old. I have one sister and two brothers, as well as my mom and dad. I love them all a lot. I feel very blessed that Nightlight gives the opportunities to people like me. It’s funny to write about my adoption, because I’ve never really felt adopted or different from the rest of my family. I don’t know exactly what number I was when I was born, but I know I was 200 something. Now, Nightlight has reached over 1000 births through embryo adoption.
