Genevieve Emelia was born in July 2024, and for me, her arrival is proof that God truly answers prayers.
I have always known that I wanted to be a mother, and while my journey did not go as I had envisioned, I believe this experience has shaped me into the person I am today. It has deepened my faith and brought me closer to God, teaching me to surrender and trust Him fully.
For those who know me well, they understand that I am a planner. Change and uncertainty tend to make me anxious and uncomfortable. However, going through infertility and pursuing embryo adoption forced me to embrace the unknown and “let go and let God.” Reflecting on all the events that led to Genevieve’s birth, I am reminded that God is always present in the details, and His plans are created with purpose and intention.
Genevieve was born prematurely at 30 weeks due to severe pregnancy complications. Just before I reached the 30-week mark, I was admitted to the hospital for monitoring, and my health quickly deteriorated. Less than a week later, I underwent an emergency C-section. Genevieve weighed just over 3 pounds at birth, but from the start, she showed everyone—especially the doctors and nurses—that she had a strong will and a purpose. She came into this world with a feisty spirit and determination, quickly meeting most of her growth and health milestones. After spending about a month in the NICU and over two weeks in the special care nursery, she was discharged without complications.
The days and nights spent at the hospital were difficult, but my faith and the support of family and friends carried me through. While I do not yet fully understand the purpose of this part of our journey, I believe it is part of both mine and Genevieve’s story. One day, it will inspire and give hope to others facing similar challenges.
Genevieve has already taught me so much. She has shown me what unconditional love looks like, and I am learning more about patience and flexibility every day. When life feels overwhelming, I take a moment to hold her, and in those moments, nothing else matters. When she gazes into my eyes, I feel pure love—God’s love. It is undeniable that God works miracles and allows us to experience His love through others.
From a tiny collection of embryonic cells, this beautiful baby girl grew and became my miracle. I am forever grateful for this journey, with all its bumps along the way, and I would not hesitate to do it all over again in a heartbeat.
