This Easter was especially meaningful as we had the incredible privilege of meeting Benjamin’s genetic parents, Matt and Gloria, and their two sweet daughters, Hannah and Abby. Born at just 25 weeks, Benjamin overcame many health challenges before coming home at 5 months old. We are so grateful for God’s faithful hand over his life.
Since our embryo adoption match on May 5, 2023—affectionately nicknamed “Baby Taco Day”—we’ve shared updates and encouragement with Matt and Gloria through email and Facebook. But this in-person visit affirmed what we’ve felt all along: that God divinely brought our families together through the beauty of adoption.
What began as a simple lunch turned into three hours of rich conversation, story-sharing, and sweet fellowship. We talked about how God has worked in our lives, churches, and adoption journeys. Even the kids connected instantly, joyfully running around together and proudly calling each other “cousins.”
One of the most touching moments came at the end of our visit when Matt prayed over Benjamin—a powerful reminder of the love that surrounds our son from both of his families. This meeting was truly a gift, and we left feeling even more grateful for the way God has turned strangers into friends who feel like family.
