At Nightlight, we have developed a Post Adoption Connection Center as a way to stay connected to your family and provide support to any areas of need, from your first week home until your child reaches adulthood. We know there are many hurdles to navigate that we have prepared you for during your training process. It may be difficult to recall and implement those tools and strategies when normal life takes over.
Support Groups
Adults - Fall 2025
Trauma and Behavior Support Group
This group gathers foster and adoptive parents seeking to understand why their child behaves in difficult ways and allows connection with other families that may have similar struggles. Groups will meet monthly year-round and cover a variety of topics for learning and discussion that you can jump in and out. Meetings set for this fall are on Thursday evenings at 7:00 Central. Blocked care
Has parenting your child not turned out how you thought? Are you overwhelmed by your child’s behavior and feel resentful, cynical, irritable, or lost compassion? This is commonly called “Blocked Care” and we are offering a group for parents to help. Sessions will begin September 11 with a daytime and evening group.
Adoptee Support Groups – Fall 2025
We have held a support group for children ages 11-17 the past few years, specifically for children from our Latin American/Spanish-speaking countries. We are creating a new group that will be conducted in English to accommodate more children and led by an adult adoptee, adopted through Nightlight’s India program. This group runs monthly from October-March. We are finalizing dates and details, but if you are interested in being notified about this group for your child, please sign-up here and we will get details to you by September.
