Diversity Statement

Nightlight seeks diversity by hiring staff with a wide range of backgrounds relevant to adoption experience, such adoptees, birth parents, and adoptive parents. We also seek relevant diversity of work experience, such as social work, business, or work in foreign countries.

Since our work is a manifestation of the Gospel, we embrace the truth that, “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28).  We view our work as the Apostle Paul said, "All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation" (2 Corinthians 5:18).

Nightlight serves clients with diverse backgrounds, such as children who are at risk for abuse and neglect, birth parents who sometimes face substance abuse or housing challenges, immigrant families planning to adopt relatives, prospective adoptive parents who face infertility, and families motivated to make a difference in the life of a child.

Our mission to share God’s love through foster care and adoption compels us to carry out the Great Commission and the Great Commandment.  This means that we love our neighbor.  And our neighbor is defined as people “to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8). We recognize making disciples of all nations includes the vision of “every tribe, nation, people and language” (Revelation 5:9).
