FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

These are a few of the many questions you may need answers to.

How Do I Know If I Am Pregnant?

It can be frightening when you think you may be pregnant but you’re not sure. Some of the most common pregnancy symptoms are:

  • A missed period
  • Swollen or tender breasts
  • Increased urination
  • Nausea with or without vomiting
  • Fatigue

Don’t wait and wonder any longer. Give us a call. Our pregnancy counselors are standing by. We’ll give you a referral to the pregnancy center nearest you for a free pregnancy test.

When Should I Take A Pregnancy Test?

Depending on your menstrual cycle, the best time to take a pregnancy test is usually the week after your missed period. During this time, your body begins to rapidly produce enough hCG (the pregnancy hormone) to be accurately detected in a pregnancy test. Read more about the importance of a quality pregnancy test here.

What Is The Abortion Pill?

The abortion pill is a type of medication abortion. This abortion procedure requires you to take two different drugs designed to terminate a pregnancy. Any abortion is a serious medical procedure with risks and side effects to be aware of. Learn more about abortion procedures here.

Can I Be Pregnant And Still Have An STD?

Yes. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), pregnancy doesn’t prevent you from being infected from the same STDs as women who aren’t pregnant. Both you and your unborn baby could get infected. Many symptoms of STDs do not show up until the disease has progressed. Whether you think you may be infected or not, you should be tested regularly, particularly if you have multiple partners. Both you and your partner should get tested immediately. Read more about STDs and testing here.

  • I was a twenty-year old working a full-time and part-time job, trying to make ends meet. I didn’t know what I was doing with my life, to be honest what twenty-year old does? When I found out I was pregnant I had so many questions running through my mind: How could I support another human being? How can I be a parent when I am still raising myself? I don’t make enough money! I decided to talk to someone about all my fears.
  • I liked how understanding everyone was. I felt cared for and supported by the entire staff. I felt informed of all my options, and I liked hearing what others had chosen, because I’d never done this before and it helped me understand.
  • I considered abortion when I first found out I was pregnant. My parents were pro-life and I didn’t really want to have an abortion but I was scared, alone, and was in a bad place. I went to a pregnancy center and then started thinking other options.
